Reflexology is one of the more modern practices defined slowly over recent years. Its influences are taken from ancient scripts and images, especially of Eastern origin. It is thought that Jesus Christ practiced an ancient form of Reflexology and also Reiki. The method is to massage and manipulate the reflex points in the hands, feet and/or ears (esp. the feet), seeking out problematic areas for more indepth treatment, or to refer on to a GP for investigation and diagnosis.
Reflexology effects organs and systems of the body, and can focus on specific areas that require particular attention. It is based on the principle that the body is reflected in these parts e.g. the left foot, hand and ear, each reflect the whole left side of the body, and the right follows suit.
It has long been used to ease, and even remove, problems and disease in the body, and as with all complimentary and holistic therapies, if performed early and regularly enough, may prevent illnes and disease forming in the body. If the client also follows a healthy life style, they can expect a greater state of health and wellbeing and possibly a longer, happier life.
